A Town That Has Always Done Things Its Own Way
The Little Landers and the Rock Houses
In March 1913, William E. Smythe founded a colony on this ground called La Ciudad de Los Terrenitos, the City of the Little Lands. The name still fits the place.
Settlers bought quarter-acre, half-acre, and one-acre plots for $295 to $1,000 and built houses from the round granite boulders they pulled out of the Tujunga Wash.
Bolton Hall, dedicated in August 1913 and laid up by rock mason George Harris with as little mortar as he could manage, served as the clubhouse, the library, and the jail.
It was Tujunga City Hall until the town was consolidated into Los Angeles in 1932, and it is a museum now. The self-reliance is still in the water here.
Grades, Driveways, and What They Do to Legs
Tujunga is not flat. The streets above Foothill Boulevard climb hard toward the forest boundary, the driveways are steep, and the lots step up the slope.
Everyone here walks, hauls, and gardens on a grade, and calves, hamstrings, and the lower back absorb every bit of it. Getting a table up to a hillside house is routine for us.
The Forest Starts at the Top of the Street
Big Tujunga Canyon Road runs from the upper edge of the neighborhood into the Angeles National Forest, and Mount Lukens, at 5,074 feet, is the roof of the City of Los Angeles.
Hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers live here specifically for that access. The recovery that should follow a hard morning on Trail Canyon almost never happens.
It would require driving back down the hill you just came up. A 90-minute session at your house at 3pm on a Saturday closes that loop properly instead.
McGroarty and the Arts Streak
John Steven McGroarty, Los Angeles Times columnist, California poet, and two-term congressman, built his home on Rosemont Avenue in 1923. It still stands.
It is now the McGroarty Arts Center, teaching affordable art classes to residents of every age. This is a neighborhood that values things made by hand and done properly.
Fire Country and the Tension It Leaves
The 2009 Station Fire burned 160,577 acres of the Angeles National Forest, the largest wildfire recorded in Los Angeles County, and Tujunga was directly threatened.
So was the debris-flow season that followed it. Living against a burn scar means every red flag warning registers somewhere in the body, whether you notice it or not.
Shoulders up, jaw tight, sleep light. That is not something a hot shower resolves, and it is a good argument for booking something longer than 60 minutes.
KEN Mobile Massage serves Tujunga and the foothill communities of Sunland, La Crescenta, and Montrose. Every therapist carries an active California massage therapy certification, a cleared background check, and liability insurance. Book online or call (661) 607-4905.
When Mobile Massage Makes the Difference
Saturday After Trail Canyon
You were on the trail at 6am and back at the truck by eleven. By two your calves and the bottoms of your feet have stopped arguing and moved to protest. A 90-minute session at 4pm, at $200 in the Extended Zone, in your own living room with the windows open and the canyon air coming through. You never get back in the vehicle.
The Hillside House Nobody Wants to Leave
Your street is steep, parking is a negotiation, and the view is exactly why you bought the place. Getting anywhere for a 6pm appointment means committing the whole evening. Book a 60-minute Swedish for 7pm instead. We work until 10pm, seven days a week, and the therapist carries the table up the stairs.
A Couples Session Before the Weather Turns
October in Tujunga, the wind coming down the canyon, and neither of you wants to be on the 210 tonight. A 120-minute couples session at $600 in the Extended Zone, two therapists, two tables, one house. Booked at 5pm for a 7pm start, because two hours of notice is all we need.

Tujunga Versus Driving Down the Hill
Every spa option is downhill and back
The nearest chain location is Massage Envy at 659 Foothill Boulevard in La Canada Flintridge, straight east through the Crescenta Valley. That is a drive each way around a fixed appointment time. From a hillside Tujunga address in evening traffic, a 60-minute massage becomes a two-hour commitment before anyone has touched your back.
Extended Zone pricing, no surprises
Tujunga is in our Extended Zone. Solo: $150 for 60 minutes, $200 for 90, $300 for 120. Couples: $300, $400, and $600. No membership, no contract, and no expiring credits sitting on an account somewhere.
We handle the stairs and the grade
Tujunga homes come with steep driveways, exterior staircases, and tight street parking. Note the access details in your booking and your therapist plans for them. Inside, all that is needed is roughly 8 by 10 feet of clear floor at a comfortable temperature.
Certified, background-checked, insured
Every therapist holds an active California massage therapy certification, has passed a background check, and carries liability insurance. You get the therapist's name before the visit. In a neighborhood this tight-knit, that is not a formality, it is the whole reputation.

Frequently Asked Questions: Tujunga
Do you serve the hillside streets above Foothill Boulevard?
Yes, including the steeper streets running up toward the forest boundary and Mount Lukens. Please note gate codes, stair access, and parking limits in your booking so your therapist arrives prepared for the property. Tujunga is a confirmed Extended Zone service area, and our therapists come out from the Antelope Valley on the 14 and the 210.
How much notice do you need?
As little as 2 hours, subject to availability, any day of the week between 10am and 10pm. For weekend evenings in the Crescenta Valley we suggest booking the day before to lock in your preferred time, but same-day requests are normal here and frequently filled.
How much does a massage cost in Tujunga?
Tujunga is in our Extended Zone. Solo sessions are $150 for 60 minutes, $200 for 90 minutes, and $300 for 120 minutes. Couples sessions are $300, $400, and $600 for the same durations, with two therapists working at the same time. No membership fees and no contracts.
I hike Big Tujunga and Mount Lukens. What should I book?
Ninety minutes is the right call for regular hikers. It gives the therapist time to work calves, Achilles, hamstrings, glutes, and the lumbar region in sequence instead of picking two of them. Mention the mileage and elevation you have been putting in and the therapist will set pressure and focus accordingly.
What do I need to have ready?
One fitted sheet, one flat sheet, and one pillowcase in twin size. Clear roughly 8 by 10 feet of floor in a room you can keep comfortable. Your therapist brings the professional table, oils, music, and complimentary aromatherapy, and sets up in a few minutes.
